Driving yourself around in Sri Lanka can be very dangerous. Traffic rules or signs, if there are any, are not respected. Therefore, it can become very chaotic on the roads. Furthermore, people in Sri Lanka drive on the left side of the roads. This can cause unwanted situations for tourists who are not used to this. Especially in the bigger towns. We highly advise you not to drive yourself.
